Overview

Allied Building Products is a subsidiary of Beacon, the largest publicly traded distributor of roofing materials and complementary building products in the United States and Canada.

According to Visual Capitalist, 70% of construction companies believe those who do not adopt digital ways of working will go out of business while 89% agree that digitization will transform the way they work.

As in every industry affected by the pandemic, conditions have changed drastically in the building materials and construction markets. Where before trade was mostly conducted via in-person sales reps and construction materials were sold on-site, businesses today are scrambling to rethink their approach and increase their digital transformation in the wake of economic uncertainty.

Challenge

Blood & Treasure was commissioned to build an Android application to enable contractors to order product online, track deliveries, and find nearby branches and local events, and integrate with Allied’s ERP.

Development & Implementation

It was a straightforward development with no surprises or bottle necks. There was a little complexity integrating Google Maps API to show the locations of Allied stores and delivery status for orders placed in the app in sync with Allied’s ERP, but Allied’s tech team worked closely with us to resolve the issues.

After our development work was accepted by the client and the app went live on the Google Play Store we completed a code handoff with Allied’s tech team and remained available to respond to questions to ensure a seamless transition.
